Biography
Simone Mason is a nine-year Hamden resident and mother of a seventeen year old son. Dynamic, hardworking, courageous, and committed to improving the lives of people in Connecticut, Simone has a record of determination and achievement in public service. A woman of deep convictions, a fighter for civil and human rights, Simone is a woman dedicated to progressive social causes. She sees clearly the problems that face us, but is optimistic that we can progress toward solving them. A breast cancer survivor, Simone knows first hand the emotional and economic costs of our present health care system. Simone Mason's care for people is not a campaign slogan, it is what she has been doing all her life.
Experience and Qualifications
- 14 years of environmental management experience. New Haven Recycling Coordinator for 5 years.
- Founder and CEO of A Different Perspective, Inc., a human services after-care agency that provides job
training and community re-entry services to individuals who have just been released from prison.
- Recipient of the National 2002 Athena Award, for dedication to her profession, to herr community, and to
helping women develop their leadership potential.
- Current Chair of the Hamden Clean and Green Commission.
- Member of the State of Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.
- Host of "The Electric Drum" talk show on environmental issues, and Gospel ,music announcer on WYBC
radio 94.3 FM.
