While the Democrats and Republicans are "Mumbling Toward November" and "tentative about their agendas" (editorial, May 6), this Green Congressional candidate's positions are loud and clear.
We should fight terrorism with effective law enforcement, enhanced intelligence and international cooperation, not with the addition of $48 billion to an already bloated military budget.
A $100 billion missile defense system, for example, will not stop U.S. based terrorists.
This massive and, I contend, unnecessary military build-up diverts federal funding from important domestic programs, such as Social Security, Public Education and Universal Health Care, and exacerbates our growing federal budget deficit.
In ignoring this deficit and increasing the military budget by more than any other nation in the world spends on its military, the almost indistinguishable policies of the Republicans and Democrats are devastating our homeland and making this nation less safe and secure.
