NEWS RELEASE
PILLSBURY FOR CONGRESS 2002
New Haven, February 18, 2002 - Local activist Charlie Pillsbury announced
today that he is seeking the endorsement of the New Haven County Green
Party to challenge Democratic incumbent Rosa DeLauro this November for
the Third Congressional District seat in Congress. The Green Party
nominating meeting will be held on Wednesday February 20 at 6:30 p.m. at
the First Unitarian Universalist Society meeting hall at 608 Whitney Avenue,
New Haven.
"People are tired of both the Democratic and Republican parties and their
politics and policies that put the the interests of their campaign donors - oil
companies, insurance companies, drug companies, defense contractors and
financial institutions - before the real human needs of people both at home
and abroad. The Green Party is a party that stands for democracy, justice and
peace. My campaign will help build this party for our children and
grandchildren," said candidate Pillsbury.
Pillsbury has been a political and community activist and resident of New
Haven for over 30 years. He is currently the Executive Director of Community
Mediation, Inc., the oldest community-based mediation program in
Connecticut. He is married to the Rev. Allie Perry, and has four terrific
teenagers - Leah (19), Susie (17), Lydia (16) and Andrew (16). "I am doing
this for them, " Pillsbury added.
