Development:
Education
Mandate that the state comply with the Sheff v. O'Neill ruling.
Return the Hartford Public School system back into the hands of the people of Hartford.
Establish a citywide Council Education Committee.
Reopen the dialogue with the Board of education on
collaboration.
Fiscal Preparedness
Utilize the findings of the Financial Future Committee to guide fiscal
decisions.
Employment
Improve employment opportunities for residents of Hartford by expanding the construction job funnel to include employment
opportunities.
Public Safety
Expand Community policing initiatives to include direct citizen participation.· Work with the Hartford Adult School to increase recruitment of minorities and Hartford residents for the police and fire
departments.
Environmental Health
Review and re-negotiate the CRRA contract. Demand better enforcement of clean air, land and water regulations.· Expand the work of the Urban Health
Educator.
Economic Justice
Support small business growth and expansion. · Support inclusion of local businesses and the hiring of Hartford residents in city-supported development.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Support and encourage programs to help grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Civic
Pride:
This is our
city.
As citizens it is our responsibility to ensure:· Clean streets· An end to violence in our neighborhoods· Increased volunteerism· Voting rights restoration and education.
