Kenric Hanson: Biography.


Kenric Hanson is a married father of two young sons who has resided in New London since 1990. He works as a landlord and seeks to renovate older houses with an emphasis on energy efficiency. He has coached for six years with the New London Soccer club, and volunteered in the New London Public schools for five years. Ken has twice run for the New London Board of Education, and once for City Council, all with the New London Green Party. On his last bid for Board of Ed., he narrowly missed victory by less than 100 votes. Ken is active in the New London Green Party and has presented at public forums and hosted the local access TV show “Thinking Green” on several occasions. He currently serves as a director on the Board of; the Alliance for Living, the New London Soccer Club; Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities and is a founding member of the Community United for the Renaissance of Education (CURE). He is currently the chairperson of the New London Sustainability Committee.

Ken has a long history of interest in the environment. He has a B.A. from Connecticut College in Environmental studies, and was at one time certified as a site supervisor in asbestos abatement. Ken also served as the “Public Education Assistant for the Recycling Program” in the city of New London in his early years of his residency. He is a dedicated lover of the outdoors and is passionate about preserving, protecting, and improving the environment around him. Ken excels at research and works very well with others. He feels his candidacy for the General Assembly is a natural progression of his willingness to dedicate himself to improving life for all citizens in the city of New London.
