Why Have None of CT's Delegation to the US Congress Signed a Letter Released by 64 Members of Congress Opposing a Trump Unilateral Declaration of War?

For Immediate Release

On Aug 10, 2017, sixty-four Members of Congress sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to express “profound concern” over “irresponsible and dangerous” statements made by President Trump and to urge Tillerson “to ensure that President Trump and other Administration officials understand the importance of speaking and acting with the utmost caution and restraint on this delicate issue” of war with North Korea.

The letter also warned that “Congress and the American public will hold President Trump responsible if a careless or ill-advised miscalculation results in conflict that endangers our service members and regional allies,” and reaffirmed the Constitutional principle that pre-emptive strikes must be authorized by Congress.

In recent days, none of Connecticut’s seven members of the U.S. Congress has signed on to this letter. Why is the CT delegation ignoring this letter or the critical issues it raises?  Numerous members of the Green Party of CT have called or communicated with our members of the U.S. Congress and have received no answer to this question.

The Green Party of CT also finds it difficult to understand why none of our representatives has signed on to H.R. 676 (Expanded & Improved Medicare for All Act) that is supported by 116 members of the U.S. House of Representatives:

We call upon all our Connecticut members of Congress to join their principled colleagues in upholding the Constitution and supporting the wellbeing of our citizens.
